Public holidays in Madagascar - 1st January : New year’s day (Taom-baovao)  - 29 March : 1947 events commemoration (Martioran'ny tolona tamin'ny 1947) - Easter Monday (Alatsinain'ny Paska) - 1st May : Labour Day (Fetin'ny asa)  - Ascension Thursday (Andro niakarana) - Whit Monday (Alatsinain'ny Pentekosta) - 26 June : Independence Day (Fetim-pirenena)  - 15 August : Assumption Day (Asompsiona)  - 1st November : All Saints’ Day (Fetin'ny olo-masina)  - 25 December : Christmas  (Krismasy) In the educational system, terms last two or three months, depending on whether you are in private or public schools.
