August 11, 2016: Thailand - Terrorist attacks in Hua Hin.

Several bombings killed 4 and injured 23 people, including 9 foreign tourists, mainly in Hua Hin, a beach resort that is located about 200 km (125 mi) south of Bangkok.

May 16, 2016: Thailand - Koh Tachai closed to tourists.

Victim of its own success, Koh Tachai has been closed to tourists and divers. Indeed, the authorities want to protect the small island from the large influx of tourists. Koh Tachai is part of the Similan archipelago that is located in the Andaman Sea in the south of Thailand. The other islands and dive spots of Similan Marine national park remain open from October 15 to May 15 as usual.

A few days later on, 14 dive sites, including some islands east of Pukhet, were also closed to tourists. In 2015, 30 million tourists visited Thailand.

August 17, 2015: Thailand
 -- Bangkok bomb.

The explosion of a bomb at the Hindu Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok killed about 20 people and injured many more. At this time, the responsibility for the bombing was not claimed. The Erawan Shrine is located near Bangkok Skytrain's Chit Lom station and is part of the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel.
