February 2018 - Cambodia: New National Marine Park.
The government of Cambodia has just established the Koh Rong archipelago located off the seaside resort of Sihanoukville as a national marine park in order to preserve its ecosystem and promote responsible tourism. The Koh Rong Marine National Park, the first in Cambodia, covers 52,448 hectares and encompasses 7 islands, including Koh Rong, Koh Rong Samloem, Koh Kon and Koh Toch. The archipelago receives a growing number of visitors.

February 2017: Cambodia - Higher admission fee.

Admission to several tourist sites in Phnom Penh has increased: from $ 6.25 to $ 10 for the Royal Palace of Phnom Penh and from $ 3 to $ 5 for Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. As already announced, the entrance charge to Angkor Wat, which is significantly more expensive, has also nearly doubled.

August 2016: Cambodia - Higher admission fee to Angkor Wat.

As from February 1, 2017, entrance fees to Angkor Wat temple, a world heritage site of UNESCO in Cambodia, will rise sharply: from $ 20 to $ 37 for one day, from $ 40 to $ 62 for 3 days and from $ 60 to $ 72 for 7 days. Entrance remains free for the Cambodians. In 2015, more than 2 million tourists visited Angkor Wat.

July 2016: Cambodia - Decent clothing required.

As from August 1, 2016, people who are not properly dressed (shoulders and knees covered) no longer may visit the temples and religious monuments of Cambodia.

May 2016: Cambodia - Angkor Wat.

The ticket office of the site of Angkor, which was located at the main entrance, has been moved to the Angkor Panorama Museum. In addition, cars and buses are no longer allowed near Angkor Wat because they congested the road just in front of the site.

The Angkor Panorama Museum is the Museum that has been opened to the public on the site of Angkor since December 2015 with the financial support of North Korea ($ 24 million). It conrains mainly North Korean paintings illustrating the history of the Khmer people, models of the temples, and a movie theatre where are projected short animations about the Khmer history. So far, the success of this museum, that should not be mixed up with the Angkor National Museum in Siem Reap, seems rather low.
