December 2016: Canada - National parks.

Admission to all national parks, national marine conservation areas, and national historic sites in Canada will be free in 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the independence of the country. The 2017 Parks Canada Discovery Pass can be ordered free of charge on the website of Canada's national parks. Annual passes maturing in 2017 are also extended free of charge for one year.

September 2016: Canada - Further postponement of the electronic travel authorization (eTA).

For a second time, Canada postpones the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) scheme. This scheme which is rather similar to the American ESTA will become mandatory as from November 10, 2016 instead of September 30, 2016. This system requests foreign nationals who are exempted from visa requirements to get online an Electronic Travel Authorization when they intend to fly to or transit through Canada. 

March 2016: Canada - Postponement of the electronic travel authorization (ETA).

The electronic travel authorization system that was set to take effect on March 15 has been postponed to September 15. 

Only people who travel to Canada by air will be required to get such an electronic travel authorization (ETA) prior to boarding to Canada. Whether they are tourists, businessmen, students, or simply travelers transiting through Canada does no matter. U.S. citizens and all travelers with a valid Canadian visa are exempted from ETA. An ETA authorization is valid 5 years.

November 2015: Canada
 - Removal of visa requirements for Mexicans.

The Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has himself committed to removing visa requirements for Mexican citizens entering Canada. The visa requirement was imposed in 2009 in order to reduce the influx of Mexican refugees in Canada.


July 30, 2015: Canada
 - new access to the Billy Bishop City Toronto Airport.

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport which is located on an island in Lake Ontario is now accessible also through a tunnel. So far, travelers had to take a ferry to get there. The ferry crossing was very short (less than two minutes), but there was often a lot of congestion at peak times. The underground pedestrian tunnel provides access to the airport in 10 minutes.

The Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, also known as Toronto City Centre Airport, is currently the main base of Porter Airlines. The main airport serving Toronto is Toronto Pearson international airport which is located 23 kilometers north-west of the city.


July 2015: Canada
- Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

Effective March 15, 2016, citizens of some 58 countries whose citizens do not require a visa to enter Canada have to obtain online an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). Canada ETA is similar to the digital travel verification system developed in the United States and Australia.


June 6, 2015: Canada
- Launch of the Union Pearson Express inToronto.

The Union Pearson Express is a fast rail link service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Union Station in downtown. It begins operation on June 6, 2015, about one month before the opening of the 17th Pan American Games which will be held from 10 to 26 July 2015 in Toronto. Services operate at 15-minute intervals with a journey time of 25 minutes. Toronto Pearson international airport is the busiest airport of the Canada.
