Early April 2016: United Arab Emirates - Dubai Airport tax.

As from July 1, 2016, any passenger departing from or transiting through an airport in Dubai will have to pay a tax of 35 dirhams, approximately $ 9.50 euros. Cabin staff and children who are less than two years old are exempted from that tax. The latter will be included in the airfares. In 2015, the main airport of Dubai welcomed 78 million passengers, most of them on intercontinental trips transiting through Dubai. After its expansion of last February, it can host 90 million. A second international airport, Al-Maktoum airport, opened its doors in 2013.

Following the decline of the oil revenues of the United Arab Emirates, various taxes have been introduced lately in Dubai including a tax on some local services in order to finance the construction of the Museum of the Future and another on hotel overnights in order to help fund the Expo 2020.

June 2015: recent innovations in
airport.

Abu Dhabi airport has implemented an automated boarding pass authentication system.
