May 13, 2016: Ecuador - New earthquakes.

Two earthquakes of magnitude 6.8 and 7.2 respectively occurred on the Pacific coast of Ecuador in the same area as the terrible earthquake of last April. There are 85 people injured.

April 16, 2016: Ecuador - Deadly earthquake.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit the northwest coast of Ecuador on Saturday. It killed at least 600. Hundreds of people were injured. This is the strongest earthquake in Ecuador over the last thirty years. The state of emergency was imposed throughout the country.

August 14, 2015: Ecuador - eruption of Cotopaxi Volcano. 

On Friday, the volcano Cotopaxi has erupted for the first time since decades. That is why the authorities have declared a state of emergency. However, this decision comes shortly after mass protests against a constitutional amendment that will allow unlimited re-election of the President.  

The Cotopaxi volcano is located only 50 kilometers away from the capital Quito. With a height of 5,897 m, it is the second highest mountain in Ecuador and one of the country's tourist attractions. It is covered with snow.

May 25, 2015: volcanic eruption in the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador).

The Wolf Volcano, situated in Isabela Island (the largest island of the Galápagos), erupted for the first time in 33 years on May 25, 2015. The eruption did not endanger people. However, it threatens local wildlife (including 500 pink iguanas and giant tortoises) and flora.
