Hong Kong (see links below) is one of the few places in China that has first-rate tourist information services and, whether you visit their offices or just pick up some of the multitude of brochures and pamphlets, you’re certain to find them useful. One of the most conveniently located branches is in the Tsimshatsui Star Ferry Terminal (daily 8 am-8 pm), but there are also branches by Exit F of Causeway Bay MTR station (same hours), at the Lo Wu (Luo Hu in pinyin) border crossing (daily 8 am-6 pm) and just before the arrivals lounge in the airport (daily 7 am-11 pm). There is a multilingual tourist information hotline on tel. 00852-2508-1234. For more detailed information on Hong Kong and good maps of the whole of Hong Kong, you can visit the Government Publications. Audio and PDA Guides: Showing its technological colors, Hong Kong also has an audio guide service that can be accessed through your cell phone. The service provides tourist information about many of Hong Kong’s sights and also keeps you posted on events and promotions. To access the service, simply dial tel. 454 (but you’ll have to pay roaming charges) or pop into the tourist offices at Causeway Bay or the Tsimshatsui Star Ferry Terminal and pay HK$60, which gives you three days of unlimited access, free from roaming charges.
