Since the end of October, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge has been opened for traffic. Crossing the Pearl River Delta, it consists of a succession of bridges, tunnels and artificial islands with a total length of 55 km. It connects the island of Lantau (home to Hong Kong international airport) on the east side of the bay to Zhuhai and Macao on the west side. Crossing this toll bridge with a private vehicle requires a special permit which is only issued in limited quantities. As a result, most drivers will leave their vehicle at the bridge terminals and cross the bridge by buses or shuttles in about 30 minutes. We drive left in Hong Kong and Macau and right at Zhuhai and on the bridge.
