It includes picturesque colonial buildings, ancient defensive walls and forts such as Fort San Felipe del Morro, Fort San Cristóbal, and la Fortaleza (now the official residence of the Governor of Puerto Rico). Walls and forts have been listed as a world heritage site by Unesco. The Fort San Felipe del Morro, in San Juan (Puerto Rico). This sixteenth-century citadel was designed to guard the entrance to San Juan bay while the Castillo de San Cristóbal was built to protect against land based attacks.
