The Tamadacht Festival - the festival of nomad culture - is a Tuareg cultural festival which takes places in January of every odd year in Anderamboukane. Anderamboukane is situated in eastern Mali on the border with Niger, about 100 km from Menaka and 1600 km from Bamako or 360 km from Niamey in Niger. With the Festival in the Desert held in the Tombouctou region and the Essouk festival, the Tamadacht festival is one of the most attractive festivals in Mali. Other Tuareg festivals include the Ghadames and Ghat festivals in Libya, the Djanet festival in Algeria and the Akabinu festival in Niger.
