Waw Al Namus is a volcanic field and caldera located in southern Libya, south-east of Sabha. It is one of the remotest travel destinations in Libya. Waw al Namus is sometimes referred to as the eighth natural wonder of the world. 

 

The Waw Al Namus volcanic field is 4 km wide, with a 100-meter-deep caldera. The volcano is surrounded by the Dark Spot, a 15 km. wide area of ash deposit. There are 3 small lakes in the area.
