The old Supreme Court building was erected between 1937 and 1939. A "time capsule" containing 6 Singapore newspapers dated March 31, 1937 was buried beneath the foundation stone. In November 1986, additional courtrooms were constructed in the adjacent City Hall. In 2005, the Supreme Court constructed a new building behind the old one.
