Mihintale is a mountain peak located 13 kilometres east of Anuradhapura. It is the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is believed to be the place where the Buddhist monk Mahinda met King Devanampiya Tissa and started introducing Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Mihintale contains now several religious monuments. It is a pilgrimage site.
Aradhana Gala is the place where Mahinda arrived in Sri lanka. It is situated on a summit of a small hill in Mihintale.
Ambasthala Dagoba in Mihintale, Sri Lanka.
The Ambasthala Dagoba is supposed to enshrine the relics of Mahinda. It is located on a small plain near the summit of the Mihintale mountain.
It is the place where Mahinda met King Devanampiyatissa.
