Blue-footed boobies in the Galápagos islands
Blue-footed boobies (Sula nebouxii) in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador.

The Blue-footed booby is a marine bird living off the western coasts of Central and South America. The Blue-footed Booby is on average 81 cm (32 in) long and weighs 1.5 kg (3.3 lb).

Blue-footed boobies have a very elaborate mating ritual. Male birds show off their feet to prospective mates in a mating dance ritual.

American Flamingoes in the Galápagos Islands
American Flamingoes (Phoenicopterus ruber) in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador.

There are six species of Flamingos in the world. The American Flamingo (also known as the Caribbean Flamengo) is probably the most colorful of the Flamingoes. The flamingo's bright pink color is due to its diet. The carotene from the shrimp in its diet turns its feathers pink. Flamingos live to be about 50 years old.
