Wattled Crane in Ethiopia
Wattled Crane (Bugeranus carunculatus) in Ethiopia.

The Wattled Crane is a large bird found in some sub-Saharan countries in Africa, including Ethiopia, Zambia and mainly Botswana. It is the largest and rarest of the six crane species that occur in Africa. Both sexes are similar in plumage, but male is larger than female.

The wattled crane is omnivorous and eats mainly aquatic vegetation. It is the most wetland-dependent of Africa’s crane species.

Superb Starling in Ethiopia

The Starling is a small to medium-sized passerine bird. The Superb Starling is a starling found in Ethiopia and other countries in East Africa. The Superb Starling is similar to Hildebrandt's Starling also found in East Africa. However, it has white eyes, as opposed to red eyes of the Hildebrandt's.
