Pictures from Seychelles Birds: Seychelles Sunbird and Red Fody (photo gallery 9).
Seychelles Sunbird (Cinnyris dussumieri), known as kolibri in Creole.
The sunbirds are a family of tiny passerine bird. Most sunbirds feed mainly on nectar. The Seychelles Sunbird is endemic to Seychelles. It uses its narrow, curved beak to reach sugary nectar from flowers and also catch small insects.
The Seychelles islands provide bird watchers with many exciting opportunities. Just to mention two of them, Aride island, the northernmost island of the granitic Seychelles, hosts one of the most important seabird populations in the Indian Ocean, with eighteen species of native birds breeding on the island, and Cousin, a satellite island of Praslin, is a nature reserve where 250,000 birds, including Seychelles sunbirds and moorhens, nest every year.
Seychelles has some of the planet's rarest endemic birds, such as the Seychelles magpie-robin. The Vallée de Mai nature reserve in Praslin island is home to the rare Seychelles Black Parrot while La Digue island hosts the Seychelles Paradise flycatcher, a rare bird, endemic to the Seychelles.

Red Fody (Foudia madagascariensis), also known as Madagascar Fody, in Seychelles.
Fodies are small passerine birds. Some species feed mainly on seeds while others are largely insectivorous. The red fody is native to Madagascar. It is found in other islands of the Indian Ocean too. While the Red Fody is a rather common bird in the region, some other fodies, including the Maurius Body, are classed as critically endangered.
