Gold Beach Resort at Flic en Flac - Wolmar, on the west coast of Mauritius.
With beautiful, long, sandy beaches, coral reefs and a privileged climate, Flic en Flac is the leading tourist destination on the west coast of Mauritius.
The resort is located only about twenty km south of Port Louis, the Capital of the country. It is also rather close to most attractions of the west side of the Island: Casela Nature & Leisure Park (an animal park), the Colored Earths of Chamarel, the Wolmar nature reserve, several high waterfalls, the National Park of the Black River Gorges, Morne Brabant and its lagoon, Ile aux Bénitiers (island), the Grand Bassin religious center and its Hindu temples, the Tamarina golf course, and many more.
The hinterland in the West of Mauritius concentrated also half of the population of the country as well as important industrial and shopping centers - including the market at Quatre Bornes as well as textile factories and shops at Floréal - and also the high-tech center at Ebène and the residence of the President at Réduit.
The availability of accommodations in Flic en Flac is very large. With regards to the seafront hotels, you find, first, at the entrance to the city, Klondike Hotel and the Italian club Villa Caroline, then, after the long public beach of Flic en Flac, the Wolmar neighborhood with Pearl Beach Hotel, Gold Beach Hotel, and a series of large hotels: La Pirogue, Sugar Beach, Hilton Wolmar, Wolmar Sofitel, Maradiva Villas Resort and, in the Tamarin Bay, Sands Resort. Each of these large resorts has its own sailing club.
The Gold Beach Resort belongs to the Gold Group which also owns two hotels in Quatre Bornes. This hotel is the smallest of those located on the Wolmar beach. It does offer quality services too.
Tourists who stay in self catering accommodation find all useful stores, including a Spar supermarket, in Flic en Flac. Late 2011, a new shopping center opened in Cascavelle, a bit outside the town, not far from the Casela Park. Excepted for Thomas Cook at Wolmar, bank offices that were situated in the city center moved to the Cascavelle center.
