Samye Monastery in Tibet

Samye Monastery is the first Buddhist monastery built in Tibet. It was most probably first constructed between 775 and 779 CE. it is located 120 km southeast of Lhasa.

Gyantse is the third largest town in the Tibet region after Lhasa and Shigatse. It is located about 230 kilometers (143 miles) south of Lhasa  (on the road to Kathmandu) and 100 km (62 mi) east of Shigatse. Pelkor Chode is the main monastery in Gyantse. It enjoys a high status in Tibet Buddhism history because it houses three sects - Sakyapa, Kadampa and Gelugpa together

Shalu monastery is a small monastery located 22 km (12 mi) south of Shigatse in Tibet. It is a combination of Han and Tibet architectural styles. It was built in 1087.
