Jokulsárlón Glacial Lake in Iceland
Jokulsárlón Glacial Lake in Iceland.

Jökulsárlón is one of the largest glacial lakes in Iceland. It is located in southeast Iceland, on the borders of Vatnajökull National Park. The lake is growing because of melting of the Icelandic glaciers. It contains a mixture of salt and freshwater giving it a unique blue-green color. There are hundreds of seals here in the winter and the lagoon supports many species of fish.

Jökulsárlón has been a setting for four Hollywood movies, including two James Bond movies. It is one of the natural wonders of Iceland and a major tourist attraction.  It´s easy to find, by highway nr. 1, about 60 km. east of Skaftafell (Vatnajökull) National Park. Boat trips on the lake are available.
