Seychelles is a country composed of 155 islands in the Indian Ocean. 41 of them are granitic islands and include the 3 main islands (Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue). All the other islands are coral islands: they include 29 coral islands in the Amirantes group (lying 230 km away from Mahé), 13 coral islands in the Farquhar Group, and 67 raised coral islands in the Aldabra Group. The Amirantes lie 230 km away from Mahé while the Farquhar Atoll and the Aldabra Atoll are located about 700 km and 1000 km respectively away from Mahé.
Among the coral islands, only Desroches and, to some estent, Alphonse in the Amirantes offer accommodation facilities for tourists. The Aldabra Atoll is a World Heritage site (UNESCO).
