Kuang Si Falls (Tad Kwang Si) is one of the most visited natural attractions in northern Laos. It is located in a well-maintained park in the jungle about 30 kilometers south of Luang Prabang. It is a three-tier waterfall with a total height of a bit more than 50 meters. At its foot, it gives rise to numerous pools on different successive levels interconnected by cascades that can be several meters high. Several of these pools of cold crystal-clear water are open to swimming. You may change clothes in cabins available in the park. A (slippery) trail rises to the top of the waterfall, but it does not offer better views of the waterfall. Kuang Si Falls is a nice day trip destination for both foreign tourists visiting Luang Prabang and local people. It's a great setting for a picnic. Various restaurants, shops and stalls are located near the entrance to the park. The park where the falls are located is home to a rescue center of Asian Black Bears.
